The course aims to provide students with basic training regarding environmental assessment and accounting, as well as to illustrate the most recent European environmental directives and strategies and the latest progress produced by scientific research through the participation of teachers with an international profile , public and EU officials. In particular, the various methods and tools considered most suitable for evaluating ecosystem services, monitoring their changes in value and entering them in public accounts will be described and tested. At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Draw up and interpret ecological, economic and financial accounting that includes the value of ecosystem services in line with European guidelines.
- Understand and evaluate, with critical and independent judgment, the role of environmental policy in directing markets and economic activities towards the goal of sustainability.
- Acquire the typical technical language of the discipline to communicate clearly and unambiguously with specialist and non-specialist interlocutors: companies and institutions that deal with environmental and economic variables in formulating their decisions
